About this course

Gain specialist vocational training to make you an effective sports instructor and coach with this targeted Bachelor of Health Science (Sport) degree.

Exploring sports, games and recreation from a scientific perspective, you will gain an understanding of how physiology and psychology impact athletic performance. You will become an effective coach, using insight into biomechanics, human anatomy and skill acquisition to provide feedback and motivation to athletes for a range of sports.

The course allows you to pick from three of the following major areas of study:

  • Determinates of Health – focuses on health promotion principles and gives you a foundational understanding of the social, psychological and cultural factors that influence general health and wellbeing.
  • Bioscience – explores the concepts of exercise physiology and focuses on the function and anatomy of the human body.
  • Sport – provides you with an understanding of how and why the human body moves and the factors that limit, and/or enhance the ability to move in sport.

Studying at ACPE’s Sydney Olympic Park campus, you’ll receive expert instruction and have access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Eligibility

To be eligible to enrol in this course, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have completed the NSW HSC with minimum average of 65 (calculated from the highest 10 units completed) or equivalent.
  • Hold a qualification from a recognised higher education provider.
  • Hold an Associate Diploma or higher from a recognised VET provider.
  • Have completed at least one year full-time or equivalent in a degree from an Australian university.
  • Satisfy entry requirements specified under formal articulation agreements as determined by the ACPE academic board.
  • Demonstrate to the Dean’s satisfaction that you are capable of succeeding in this course through relevant work experience and are motivated to study.
