About this unit

Public Health Project is an online unit provided by Open Universities Australia in association with Curtin University. The unit’s model of learning is autonomous and self-directed, providing you with opportunity to develop expertise in a health area of your choice. You will plan, research, and present a public health project relevant to research in progress by the university’s School of Public Health or the Faculty of Health Sciences.

To begin with, you will investigate areas of research that match your interests and skills, before choosing one to construct your project around. Following this, you will investigate the broader parameters of public health and how they intersect with your topic. You will then create a report that critically reviews and evaluates a specific public health issue.

Ultimately, Public Health Project enhances your critical thinking and research skills, as well as equipping you with research strategies unique to the field of public health. Through critically reviewing a public health topic, you will gain the experience and the ability to conduct future projects in a professional context.
