About this course

Take your knowledge of organisational psychology and apply it to business, industrial and other organisational contexts with a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources and Safety at Murdoch University.

The course gives you the skills to run a safe and healthy workplace, and to ensure an organisation's HR department runs smoothly. You'll learn about wellbeing and the dynamics of cultural diversity in the workplace, and cover procedures such as job assessment methods, performance appraisal, staffing, human resource development and training.

As well as a focus on safety, you'll look at rehabilitation, retirement, and retrenchment, and how to manage change.

If you're a graduate of commerce, law, education, sociology, environmental or biological science and want to work in HR, this course is a perfect second discipline area.


To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Completed a recognised bachelor's degree, or higher, in any discipline; OR
  • Completed equivalent training

Previous quantitative or statistical skills are also highly recommended.

All students must also satisfy Murdoch University's minimum English requirements by demonstrating competency in the English language.

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
