An online postgraduate unit provided by Griffith University and Open Universities Australia, Evidence-based Practice in Human Resource Management and Employment Relations incorporates research in fields such as sociology, psychology and labour economics to introduce evidence based practice and the intellectual foundations of human resources management. You will study topics such as perspectives on evidence, accessing and evaluating research and ways of knowing to develop a fuller understanding of HRM and employment relations, and how they can be employed to address a wide range of issues.
On completion of this unit, you will be able to trace the intellectual foundations of human resource management and use research and analysis to formulate recommendations. You will be able to describe evidence-based practice both in general terms and with specific reference to HRM and ER, and integrate acquired research skills to form the basis of practice and problem solving.
This unit employs a range of instructional methods, including audio/video conferencing, discussion forums, online assignment submission and web links. You will be assessed on the completion of three assignments based on the learning tools you develop throughout the unit.
