Australian Foreign policy is an online unit which aims to build your understanding of the contemporary and historical issues facing Australian foreign policy and foreign relations. Provided by Open Universities Australia and Griffith University, this unit considers the latest geopolitical developments in relation to Australia’s global standing.
You will evaluate the foreign policies of recent Australian governments and critically assess the aims, methods and outcomes of Australian foreign policy. In particular, Australia’s relationship with the United States and the great powers of Asia will be considered, as well as Australian defence policy, security issues, foreign aid and the environment.
Alongside more practical issues, you will also consider the idea of national interest and explore several important concepts used in political science, international relations and foreign policy.
This unit is not currently a requirement for any courses, but may be eligible for credit.
Content may also be relevant to other courses, and could qualify you for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for a course offered by another institution.
