About this course

The Bachelor of International Studies offered by Deakin University through SEEK Learning will equip students with the skills to understand and analyse the international forces shaping governments, businesses and communities around the world.

By providing students with a systematic understanding of other countries and societies, as well as training them in cross-cultural competencies, the course produces internationally engaged graduates who are qualified to work in foreign aid, policy development and international business contexts.

An exciting feature of the course is an immersive international study experience, which can involve studying at an overseas university, completing an international internship or learning another language.

International experience

A form of international experience is an essential component of this course. You will therefore need to complete one of the following:

  • An international internship
  • An internship with an international organisation, undertaken in Australia
  • A trimester studying abroad
  • Deakin University's language program


Applicants must meet the criteria to be eligible to enter this program:

  • Have completed Year 12 with an ATAR of at least 60; OR
  • Hold a diploma or educational equivalent; OR
  • Have relevant work experience, including any community work

  • Approved onshore internship with an international organisation
