The Bachelor of International Studies offered by Deakin University through SEEK Learning will equip students with the skills to understand and analyse the international forces shaping governments, businesses and communities around the world.
By providing students with a systematic understanding of other countries and societies, as well as training them in cross-cultural competencies, the course produces internationally engaged graduates who are qualified to work in foreign aid, policy development and international business contexts.
An exciting feature of the course is an immersive international study experience, which can involve studying at an overseas university, completing an international internship or learning another language.
A form of international experience is an essential component of this course. You will therefore need to complete one of the following:
An international internship
An internship with an international organisation, undertaken in Australia
A trimester studying abroad
Deakin University's language program
Applicants must meet the criteria to be eligible to enter this program:
Have completed Year 12 with an ATAR of at least 60; OR
Hold a diploma or educational equivalent; OR
Have relevant work experience, including any community work

International study experience - students have the opportunity to undertake one of the following:
Trimester of study at an overseas university exchange partner
In-country language program (in Chinese, Indonesian or Arabic)

You may be eligible to receive HECS-HELP loan for this course, meaning you can defer payment of your course fees.
Alternatively, you can also pay for this course upfront via credit card or direct transfer.

This course can be paid for through the HECS-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
