This unit will introduce you to the exciting world of modern IT systems, including mobile computing, robotics and web-based systems. You’ll develop your skills in programming, databases and web development, in a format that is engaging, inspiring and informative.
The unit combines theory with practical learning experiences. In addition to studying real-world technological artefacts, you will work in a simulated IT workplace constructing small IT systems. You will gain exposure to several different languages for programming, querying databases, displaying web pages and searching data.
Upon completion, you will have the fundamental skills required to design and develop an IT system. You will become competent working with IT specifications and user manuals; and you will also have practical experience working in cross-disciplinary and project teams. Building IT Systems is provided through Open Universities Australia and RMIT University.
There are no prerequisites for this unit; anyone can apply.

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
