About this unit

Demonstrating successful business process improvement is vital to any successful IT service organisation, and key to competing in the marketplace. This online unit from the Australian Computer Society will provide IT professionals with a clear understanding of the Lean and Six Sigma business process improvement methodologies that have been practised for over two decades in industries as varied as manufacturing, healthcare and financial services.

This unit teaches you how to apply these methodologies in an IT environment, along with the related best practices, such as ITIL Continual Service Improvement, ISO/IEC 20000 and CMMI, where relevant.

After completion of this online unit through Open Universities Australia, you will be able to both understand and apply these concepts to IT systems, develop a business case for promoting your change vision, evaluate factors that affect the change program, identify change requirements and learn how to best prioritise initiatives to maximise improvements.

Assessment of this unit will be conducted through two assignments, worth 30% and 50%, and an online discussion (20%).
