This online Green Technology Strategies unit, offered by Open Universities Australia and the Australian Computer Society, aims to provide you with an understanding of the impacts of ICT on carbon emissions, both with regard to their current contributions and their potential to reduce emissions.
You will gain an understanding of the practices that are being developed in the private and public sectors, both on a national and global basis. You will also learn about the lifecycle of materials that are commonly used in the manufacturing of technological components, including initial extraction and use, reuse and opportunities for recycling.
Upon completion of this unit, you will have an understanding of sustainable technology strategies, and how they can be effectively implemented for a greener future. You will also be prepared to give advice on such matters, and will be able to effectively communicate your ideas with regard to green IT.
