Explore an area of interest to you within IT project management, business analysis or IS management during this online Open Universities Australia and Swinburne University unit. Carrying out your own IS/IT Research Project gives you the opportunity to develop your skills within academic research, while familiarising yourself with the academic and practitioner literature on a subject you find particularly fascinating. Your critical thinking skills will be challenged, and you will be expected to develop your communication skills when producing materials for assessment.
Undertaking this project will also expose you to a number of subject areas relevant to project management, including team and stakeholder management, managing risks and evaluation of IT projects, programs and portfolios. You will discuss the importance of the project management office, as well as learn about its creation, role and relevant management processes.
You will draw on knowledge from across disciplines when working on this research project, and will be expected to consider your own experiences in the industry, where applicable.

This unit will give you the opportunity to demonstrate that you can independently carry out a research project. During the unit, you will become familiar with the basics of conducting research, and will gain an appreciation for a variety of analytical techniques. You will develop your written communication skills through reporting your findings.
Due to the nature of the research project, you will develop an advanced knowledge of a chosen area of interest. You will become familiar with the existing literature, and gain a critical perspective through extensive secondary research.
If you are an Australian citizen, you may be eligible to receive a government FEE-HELP loan, meaning you can defer payment of your fees.

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
