About this unit

An online postgraduate unit provided by Swinburne University and Open Universities Australia, Requirements Analysis and Modelling teaches you how to identify, explore and implement processes of problem area analysis and problem solving in a given context. You will apply a range of techniques, discuss alternative solutions and models, and use different evaluation criteria to make an argument for why one solution might be more effective than another for a particular problem. On completion of this unit, you will have developed the tools to apply a range of methodologies and modelling techniques to finding solutions to complex problems independently. You will also learn how to communicate more effectively and take a leading role in driving a diverse team of IT professionals. You will apply structured, object oriented and agile system analysis methodologies, and analyse theories of advanced requirements modelling to articulate compelling solutions for complex business problems. Topics you will study in this unit include the role of the analyst and the SDLC, project management and data gathering techniques, traditional approaches to modelling system requirements and recent advances in systems development methodologies. Assessment consists of a combination of group and individual assignments and an invigilated exam.
