About Six Sigma

Six Sigma is a set of strategies and techniques for process improvement, developed by Motorola and now used extensively across multiple industries. It is a tool used by project managers and business consultants everywhere, and a certification in Six Sigma is recognised as a highly valuable asset.

The main function of Six Sigma is to identify and remove the causes of errors and faults, and decrease variables in the business environment. This is achieved through the use of analysis, data and management and planning tools, and by looking at historical precedents in organisational improvement. The two main methodologies utilised by Six Sigma are DMAIC (define, measure, analyse, improve, control) and DMADV (define, measure, analyse, design, verify).

When Six Sigma methodology is applied to projects, significant improvements to efficiency and reductions in risk and error can be made – and this can have a huge impact on the bottom line.

When you learn the foundations of Six Sigma as a green belt, you will cover important areas such as defining, measuring, analysing, improving and controlling processes, team implementation and organisational management.
