About this unit

The online unit, from the University of South Australia and Open Universities Australia, focuses on the key linguistic skills and written skills to develop and improve your Italian. Italian 2A will also allow you to review grammar and gain a much deeper understanding of the Italian language. As well as building on your previous knowledge of basic Italian, the unit aims to improve your confidence and ability in listening, speaking, reading and writing in Italian.

The unit will focus on more in-depth areas and more complex sentence structures of the Italian language. As well as the verbs, grammar, tenses and nouns, the unit will also focus on polishing off your overall fluency by placing you in everyday situations, aiming to give you the ability to hold conversation with a native speaker.

As well as improving your language skills, the unit will look to grow your appreciation not only for the Italian language, but also the culture by giving you an overall view of the Italian lifestyle and issues affecting the country.

To be eligible for this unit, you must have completed the following units, or currently be enrolled in these units:

  • Italian 1A
  • Italian 1B

  • Consolidation of grammatical concepts and structures
  • Cultural knowledge: situations and tasks in text
  • Overview of Italian migration and identity including representations of Italian culture in Australia
