In the Acquisitions, Takeovers and Mergers unit, provided by Open Universities Australia and RMIT University, you will examine the rules outlined in the Corporations Act, and the processes of effecting a merger or acquisition. The unit also addresses methods for defending a hostile takeover, what is required to make a valid takeover bid, schemes of arrangement, and the role of the Takeover Panel and ASIC.
By the end of the unit you will be able to demonstrate a greater understanding of the legislative requirements and laws pertaining to corporate mergers and acquisitions, and be able to apply such knowledge to real-world scenarios.
