About this unit

Cyberlaw covers the current state and changes to the legal system as a result of emerging data and communication technologies. By studying this unit, you will gain an understanding of the legal system and how it continues to shift under the influence of new technologies.

Contributing to a Bachelor of Security Studies, the unit goes on to analyse whether online technologies and their subsequent cultures have created a new field of law. You will become proficient at identifying and evaluating potential areas of law reform within Australia and internationally, as the laws relevant to electronic commerce and cybercrime are covered in depth.

At the completion of this course, provided by Swinburne University and Open Universities Australia, you will be confident in discussing and assessing legal issues surrounding cybercrime, intellectual property rights and online business.
