This online JD Study Tour (CIJ) – Innovative Justice and Court Innovation unit provided by Open Universities Australia and RMIT University offers insight into the fast-paced world of court innovation and innovative justice. In this unit, you will explore alternatives to traditional approaches to criminal justice, such as dispute resolution and the provision of legal services.
Furthermore, you will learn about court innovation and how new institutions are being developed to provide solutions to modern day problems. You will be learning in a unique environment at the Centre for Innovative Justice at RMIT University, which has the purpose of researching and improving justice systems on a local, regional, national and international level.
In undertaking this unit, you will gain an unparalleled experience and understanding of the subject matter, as well as the opportunity to work with some of RMIT’s partners and international centres for innovation of justice. Students have worked with innovative justice centres all over the world, including in the USA, UK and wider Europe, New Zealand and Canada. This experience allows students to gain a broader understanding of innovation and how it is applied to a broad spectrum of practical projects.

In addition, having a comprehensive understanding of alternative court structures will prepare you for public sector work in development or regulation of justice systems.

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
