About this unit

In this online Planning Law unit provided by Open Universities Australia and Curtin University, you will gain the essential knowledge required to understand the application of planning law. You will learn both the statutory rules and general legal principles as they relate to the Australian legal system.

Furthermore, you will also gain insight into environmental law, the law of land and also the law of tenure. This knowledge is absolutely essential for anyone wishing to provide legal consultation in the field of developmental planning, however would also be useful to urban planners and developers.

After completion of this unit, you will be able to describe planning law and in particular how it relates to environmental law. You will also be able to speak in detail about environmental law generally and its relationship with the law of tenure. In addition, you will learn to apply these legal principles to real world situations and also explain the reasoning behind these laws and applications.
