About this unit

Information Literacy is an online unit delivered by Curtin University, via Open Universities Australia. The unit encapsulates the various facets of information services and literacy, developing the ability of those with substantial prior knowledge of information services to utilise this experience to facilitate educational programs.

The unit aims to develop your understanding of the place of information services in user education, focusing on developing your knowledge of the role of information literacy in enabling lifelong learning. It will facilitate the development of assessment skills, offering you the opportunity to learn practical tools and techniques to deliver, guide and measure the success of information literacy programs.

The unit will also work to develop your management ability, taking charge and measuring the success of education programs for both individuals and groups. You can expect to utilise your communication skills, applying principles of teaching and learning to ensure the effective delivery of education activities.

Eligibility

This unit assumes substantial prior knowledge through the completion of all level 1 and 2 information studies units.
