About this unit

Knowledge Management Principles is an online unit provided by Open Universities Australia in association with Curtin University. Fundamentally, the unit develops your understanding of knowledge management, and the practical implications of its key theories. The analysis takes place in a cross-cultural context, consolidating your understanding of the practice in Australia and beyond.

To begin with, you will explore how knowledge management operates in a workplace environment, before considering strategies on how to best to communicate and share this information within organisations. Following this, you will examine the key resources and capabilities of knowledge management and critically consider whether practitioners claiming to be knowledge management experts are really worthy of the title.

Ultimately, Knowledge Management Principles enhances your understanding of how the practice functions, its key theories, and its potential to benefit organisations. You will be able to evaluate the discipline in a cross-cultural sense, and apply the principles you have learned in a professional context.
