This online International Logistics unit offered by Open Universities Australia and RMIT University enables students to learn about the nature of logistics in the age of globalisation.
Transport accounts for a large portion of logistics, so international transport operations will be explored. You will learn about the importance of strategically located warehouses and logistical infrastructure facilities, and will be introduced to a variety of geo-strategic locations across the globe. The increasing concern with security in international transport operations will also receive special attention. You will become aware of the different types of transport available for moving goods internationally, and will become familiar with their limitations and advantages.
The unit also addresses inventory management, procurement and outsourcing, and will familiarise you with the various parties involved in a global supply chain.

You will become familiar with practical issues that many organisations face when their commercial activities transcend national borders, and will develop the working knowledge needed to identify potential risks and mitigate them. You will also develop a practical understanding of the advantages and limitations of the various modes of transport available for moving goods internationally.
You will gain sufficient understanding of the international logistics landscape and will walk away from this unit with the ability to analyse logistics operations on a global scale.
