During this online unit in Transport Modelling, you will gain an understanding of transport theory, and learn to use key transport modelling software. Following the four-step model, the concepts of which will be covered within the unit, Transport Modelling will give you the skills and knowledge required to conduct industry level transport forecasts.
At the base of all economic and organisational modelling is theory. This unit, delivered by the University of South Australia and Open Universities Australia, offers a broad introduction to transport modelling theory, and modelling and forecasting methodologies.
With the theory under your belt, you’ll learn to use transport modelling software at micro and macro levels. Critically evaluate your data sets with the aid of the software, and explore the industry utility of the programs themselves.
The relationship between transport modelling and real-world transport problems will be covered in depth in order to accurately synthesise and chart travel demand and devise impact and goal assessments.
