About this unit

Applied Industry Practice is an online unit from RMIT University and Open Universities Australia that helps you to apply your business management skills to a working environment. The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) unit is part of RMIT’s MBA program, and can be separated into two distinct areas: a company project and career planning.

You will begin by working online as a team to conduct a real-life in-company project, developing your understanding of work ethics and how to report to management. For the careers planning element of the unit, you will delve into the current and anticipated trends in the global employment market, and develop the skills to create and sustain your own successful career.

Undertake detailed research and apply theories to solve key business problems as part of a team, as well as learn how to gather, analyse and interpret data with professional, cohesive presentations. You will be required to present your findings, initiate and complete a successful job search in the hidden and visible employment markets, and develop a formal career plan.

To be eligible to enrol, applicants must have successfully completed, be currently enrolled in or intending to enrol in the following unit:

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
