About this unit

This unit places client services within a framework that emphasises the distinction between art, business and design. By studying the means by which brands function in the market place, and the ways in which changes to the marketplace can provide new opportunities for communication designers, you will develop a strong grounding in critically assessing client service strategies and implementing change.

Key issues you will explore in Client Service Analysis include developing strategies in line with client and customer requirements, justifying the significance of branding and visual identity in relation to commercial entities and their products or services; recommending ways to integrate the principles of strategic planning and client service provision with contemporary marketing practices; and researching, devising and presenting communication design solutions based on strategic investigations.

Completion of this course – provided by RMIT University and Open Universities Australia – will give you the ability to analyse design considerations for various audiences and client groups, investigate the implications of branded business versus monolithic and endorsed from a perspective of communication design practice, critically assess client service strategies and solutions in terms of emerging practice, and make prioritised recommendations for developing new strategies.

How will this unit advance my career?

This unit will introduce you to the theory of client analysis, helping you to develop a broader understanding of the market place while gaining practical experience in developing strategies that fit the communication design requirements of clients and their audiences. On completion of the unit you will have built a thorough understanding of client analysis and development, and developed key skills in business consultancy that can be applied to a wide range of job roles.

A solid grounding in client service and analysis is an increasingly desirable skill set for employers, particularly in the marketing industry, but also in a variety of managerial and research-based job roles. This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
