The Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT42015) program offered by the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences (AIAS) is designed to give you the education and training to pursue a career as a massage therapist.
Massage is the manual manipulation of muscle and connective tissue to promote relaxation and well-being. Therapeutic massage can ease tension and reduce pain, and can be used to enhance function in the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal and nervous systems. It may also help to accelerate healing from injury and illness.
In this accredited certificate IV course, you will receive training in remedial massage, lymphatic drainage, deep tissue massage, cross fibre mobilisation, reflexology, aromatherapy, structural alignment, anatomy and physiology, communication, massage clinic, and practice management, law and ethics.
You will be required to complete a minimum of 100-170 hours of mandatory work placement in order to gain essential hands-on experience. You can complete your placement at an AIAS student clinic, or in a suitable workplace environment.

To be eligible to enrol in this course, you must meet the following entry requirements:
Provide a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (i.e. a Year 12 qualification); OR
Demonstrate that you have the capacity to successfully complete this course by achieving an Exit Level 3 score within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in reading and mathematics. This will be demonstrated through two short tests as a part of the enrolment process.
You will also be required to submit a current First Aid Certificate in order to participate in the work placement component of this course.

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a nationally recognised, accredited Certificate IV in Massage Therapy (HLT42015) from the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences (AIAS).
By completing this massage therapy course, you will have the education and training to be able to practise as a self-employed massage therapist with your own clients or work with others at a health care clinic. Opportunities in education, community health care, social welfare, sales, manufacturing and at health retreats will also be open to you.
