The Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Remedial Massage (HLT52115) program offered by the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences (AIAS) is designed to give you the education and training you need to pursue a career as a TCM massage practitioner.
Traditional Chinese therapeutic massage is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is a technique that stimulates acupressure points and meridians to treat musculoskeletal conditions, relieve spasm and pain, improve the function of tendons, bones and joints, and promote overall health and wellbeing.
In this accredited diploma program, you will receive training in all aspects of TCM massage, including massage therapy, lymphatic drainage, shiatsu, cross fibre mobilisation, advanced deep tissue massage, aromatherapy, Chinese acupressure, structural aligning, communication, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine and clinical management.
You will also have the opportunity to further your education by choosing to study one of these electives: reflexology, Chinese acupressure and aromatherapy.
You will be required to complete a minimum of 200-275 hours of mandatory work placement in order to gain essential hands-on experience. You can complete your placement at an AIAS student clinic, or in a suitable workplace environment.

To be eligible to enrol in this course, you must meet the following entry requirements:
Provide a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (i.e. a Year 12 qualification); OR
Demonstrate that you have the capacity to successfully complete this course by achieving an Exit Level 3 score within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in reading and mathematics. This will be demonstrated through two short tests as a part of the enrolment process.
You will also be required to submit a current First Aid Certificate in order to participate in the work placement component of this course.

This course can be paid for through the VET FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
