About this unit

This unit, offered by Murdoch University in conjunction with Open Universities Australia, gives you a deep understanding of advanced mineral processing topics including sampling, classification and comminution, particle characterisation and density and gravity separation processes of mineral concentration.

The online unit also covers concepts such as froth flotation, coagulation, agglomeration and flocculation, giving you a thorough knowledge of advanced mineral processing.

This unit will provide you with an in-depth understanding of mineral processing, and will qualify you for professional member status with The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Eligibility

To be eligible to enrol in this unit, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed the following unit, Introduction to the Minerals Industry, or an equivalent at university level

AND

  • Have some knowledge of applied mathematics, including calculus and matrix algebra.

AND

  • Be accepted into the Graduate Diploma of Extractive Metallurgy course
  •  

Applicants cannot enrol if they have already completed this unit, or an academic equivalent.
