This Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) course from Endeavour College of Natural Health trains students to become holistic healthcare practitioners. Through a series of practical training exercises and assessments, students learn about traditional Chinese medicine techniques based on the acknowledgement that stimulating specific points on the body balances the functions of the body, mind and spirit to restore health.
Students train in practical classes to acquire various diagnostic and treatment techniques, learning how to regulate the flow of qi (vital force) to balance the functions of the body, mind and spirit and restore health. In-class exercises are conducted with students practicing on each other to serve as a model for future engagement with clients.
Students will use Chinese medical theory to learn point stimulation and diagnostic skills, learning to restore energy flows by influencing the acupuncture points with needles, lasers or finger pressure.
This course is suitable for those seeking a career in holistic healthcare, working as an independent practitioner or alongside medical doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and naturopaths in both corrective and palliative capacities.
Graduates are required to apply for registration with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) if they wish to practise in Australia. At present, only students who study this course at the Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne or Perth campuses are eligible to apply for CMBA registration.
