About this course

Study the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) (CHC33015) to gain entry into community services and aged care work. Offered online through Open Colleges, and in partnership with ICM Training, this course will give you a range of skills suitable for support roles in a residential or community care environment. You will learn how to provide individualised support, assist people with dementia, work ethically and legally within a health or community services environment, and follow safe work practices.

Work placement

To successfully complete this course, you must undertake a work placement of at least 120 hours in a residential aged care, home care environment or community support setting.

Eligibility

In order to enrol in this course, you must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Have successfully completed English to Year 10 level; OR
  • Have successfully completed a nationally recognised qualification at certificate II level or higher; OR
  • Have 2 years' relevant industry experience in a role that requires written communication and documentation

Applicants under the age of 18 will need to have their enrolment form signed by a parent or guardian.

  • HLTWHS002 - Follow safe work practices for direct client care
  • CHCAGE005 - Provide support to people living with dementia
  • CHCDIV001 - Work with diverse people
  • CHCCCS023 - Support independence and wellbeing
  • CHCCCS025 - Support relationships with carers and families

*This unit requires you to be employed in a workplace under the supervision of a current AHPRA Registered Nurse/DIV1
