The program is co-authored by nutritional expert Dr Joanna McMillan, and has been created in partnership with accredited practising dietitians, sports dietitians and academics with research experience in human metabolism, nutrition and diet-related diseases. This course gives you a firm understanding of the fundamental principles of nutrition, as well as basic medical knowledge about the human body - how it digests, metabolises food and stores energy.

Practical work placement

To successfully complete this course, you must undertake a total of 30 hours of practical work experience with a mentor in order to gain real-world skills. Students will also need to hold a current Working with Children Check to undertake placement.


To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years or older at the date of enrolment; AND
  • Have completed Year 12, or equivalent level of education
