About this unit

The online Nutrition Principles unit offers an introduction to the science of nutrition. It covers how different food composition and nutrient types affect health within the individual and the broader community. In this course, you will learn how to research reputable nutritional information online and gain an introductory knowledge to nutrition science.

This RMIT University course, provided in conjunction with OUA, provides an education in the components of major nutrient groups like carbohydrates, proteins and lipid structures while explaining the processes behind digestion, absorption, metabolism, energy and the TCA cycle. Nutrition Principles also covers the difference between micro and macro nutrients and how they relate to diet theories.

Learn the value of different nutrients and how to plan effective diets as you debate the culture of nutrition and dieting, and discuss the impact of trend diets.

This unit, as part of a Bachelor of Applied Science, will prepare you for a future role in nutrition consulting and science.

Anyone can apply, although this is a level 2 unit of study, so there may be some assumed knowledge.
