About this unit

In the Managing Projects and Stakeholders online unit provided by Open Universities Australia and Swinburne University, you will gain the knowledge and skills needed to design and deliver significant projects on budget and on time. You will consider new systems developed using project life cycle models and discover how outsourcing and implementation of such solutions are important.

You will also gain a comprehensive understanding of different approaches to project management and use computer-based tools to assist you in managing resources and implementing strategies for information systems and technological resources.

On completion of this Managing Projects and Stakeholders unit, you will fully understand management concerns and be able to apply important principles of stakeholder management. Furthermore, you will be able to use key software management tools to deliver schedules and budgets and also understand the moral and ethical considerations of project management.

To be eligible to enrol, applicants must not have already completed this unit, or an academic equivalent, and must also be accepted into one of the following courses:

  • Communication skills and strategies
  • PMBOK skills sets: particular emphasis is given to developing an understanding of competitive IT advantage, project management risk, quality management
  • Implementation and change within the organisation
  • Governance and practice within the code of ethics both for the organisation and project manager
