Eligibility

Study periods

Open Universities courses are offered in specific study intakes every year, known as Study Periods or Sessions. This means more flexibility as you can choose when to start studying.

If you are studying undergraduate units you can start at the beginning of any of the four Study Periods each year, each lasting 13 weeks. Most postgraduate courses are offered in three Sessions per year, with each Session lasting 14 weeks.

Exams are usually held in the week following the end of each Study Period or Session.

Areas of study

The units in this program have been developed to ensure graduates can:

  • Establish a project within its environment.
  • Prepare project plans to meet project objectives and requirements.
  • Develop documentation to achieve project objectives within time, cost and quality.
  • Use appropriate management tools for monitoring and control of projects.
  • Understand the use and application of effective project management techniques throughout the life cycle of a project.

Shorter programs

If you choose not to study the entire Master of Project Management program you may be able to complete an alternative program. This is beneficial for students who need to develop a specialisation or prefer not to commit to the whole study period.

Depending on the units studied, you can exit with a Graduate Diploma in Project Management or Graduate Certificate in Project Management.

Project management provides the knowledge required to plan and organise projects so that they are delivered within time, cost and quality constraints.

This course is ideal for anyone looking to further their education and training in the project management industry. Throughout the program you will be provided with several opportunities to integrate and apply the knowledge and skills required for successful project management.

The course uses the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) as a framework. This framework provides a generic approach to project management that can be applied across different industries, businesses and government institutions.
