This online unit in Bayesian Statistics from Open Universities Australia and Swinburne University will introduce you to Bayesian statistics, and teach you how to apply this knowledge using R.
The first section of this unit introduces you to Bayesian Statistics and the R programming language. You will learn about important concepts such as prior distributions and posterior distributions. You will be taught how to differentiate between important distributions commonly used in Bayesian Statistics. Finally, you will learn how to articulate differences between Bayesian estimation and maximum likelihood estimation.
The second section of this course will teach you how to apply this knowledge. You will develop the programming knowledge to perform Bayesian analysis using R, and learn how to evaluate the empirical applications of Bayesian analysis within this software environment. Finally, you will use the R program to apply Bayesian methodology using a Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation.
