The Graduate Diploma of Mathematics course offered by Charles Sturt University is an online qualification designed to provide a solid mathematics foundation to those who have not necessarily studied the subject at a tertiary level.
You will cover topics including algebra and calculus through a range of blended learning techniques, and be introduced to mathematical computer software program, Maple, and encouraged to apply this when solving advanced problems.
This qualification can be used in a range of fields including secondary teaching, technical mathematics roles, research and extension work. It can also be used as a refresher course for those who wish to extend their previous mathematics training.
There is a practical work placement component for the teaching stream subject Generalised Linear Models. This unit contains a two-day optional residential school.
If you choose not to study the entire Graduate Diploma of Mathematics you may be able to complete an alternative program. This is beneficial for students who need to develop a specialisation or who prefer not to commit to the whole study period. Depending on the units studied, you can exit with a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics.

The online Graduate Diploma of Mathematics course uses a combination of practical workplace learning and mathematics theory and can be used by those aiming to build on their current secondary teaching qualification. You will work across a range of mathematics topics at a general to advanced level to ensure you are classroom-ready to teach secondary mathematics.
Courses that are not Commonwealth support places require students to contribute the full cost of their course. You may be eligible for a loan to help pay for tuition fees through the Commonwealth Government FEE-HELP program.

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
