About this unit

This online Open Universities Australia and Swinburne University unit allows you to obtain detailed, specialist knowledge of a particular period or aspect of the history of astronomy. Undertaking Major Project – History of Astronomy enables you to develop academic research skills with a designated supervisor.

The project proposal segment of your assessment for this unit will require you to undertake a critical literature review, in which you familiarise yourself with the existing literature on your subject, and will also include a plan for the research you intend to undertake.

 

Your written report should demonstrate concise communication skills, and should specify the techniques you used, any investigations you carried out, and the conclusions you reached upon completing your research.

You cannot enrol in this unit in you have completed a unit deemed academically equivalent. To be eligible for this unit, it’s recommended that you have completed the following:

  • Master of Science (Astronomy)
  • History of Astronomy
