This online Open Universities Australia and Swinburne University unit allows you to obtain detailed, specialist knowledge of a particular period or aspect of the history of astronomy. Undertaking Major Project – History of Astronomy enables you to develop academic research skills with a designated supervisor.
The project proposal segment of your assessment for this unit will require you to undertake a critical literature review, in which you familiarise yourself with the existing literature on your subject, and will also include a plan for the research you intend to undertake.
Your written report should demonstrate concise communication skills, and should specify the techniques you used, any investigations you carried out, and the conclusions you reached upon completing your research.

This will allow you to demonstrate to potential employers that you are capable of carrying out a piece of research as an individual. Writing a literature review, as required by this unit, will help you to hone and demonstrate your skills within secondary research.
