Microbiology 1 is delivered online by Open Universities Australia, introducing more advanced technical knowledge and practical skills to build on your prior study of microbiology.
In this unit, there is an emphasis placed on bacteria of importance to humans, with reference to the fields of industrial, food and environmental microbiology and the important pathogens and organisms relevant to them.
Topics included in this online unit include: microbial genetics and ecology; bacterial growth and metabolism, taxonomy of bacteria, mycology, virology and parasitology.
Please note that this unit involves some mandatory on-campus attendance at RMIT University’s Melbourne campus.
