About this unit

In this online Spatial Analysis and Modelling unit from Open Universities Australia and the University of South Australia, students will design and conduct a workflow using spatial analysis and other Geographical Information Systems (GIS) tools to address specific environmental sustainability questions relevant to industry, academia, and government agencies.

You will learn to apply GIS and Geospatial Science concepts including metadata, error propagation, data models and data structures for representing spatially referenced information, and numerous spatial analytical techniques. Key learning outcomes include integrating GIS theory and methodology with the technical skills to design, implement, and present a geospatial project. Students will also be able to critically reflect on local, national, and international social and ethical issues and contexts within which GIS functions.

Eligibility

It’s recommended that students who have not studied introductory GIS, or have relevant work experience in the area, are advise to take online tutorials prior to commencing the unit. In order to enrol in this unit, you must be accepted into the following course:
