The Community Work Practice unit explores the importance of community work within different contexts, including historical, theoretical and philosophical. Students will learn to critically examine the strategies and methods of community work in relation to each of these contexts, and will also be able to compare historical of community work practices to those employed in contemporary settings.
Delivered online by Open Universities Australia, in partnership with Griffith University, the unit covers topics including the community work method, community development and empowerment, strategy in community development and community practice and government. Assessment is based on two portfolios (each worth 30%), a presentation based on an online case study (20%), and two quizzes (10% each).

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
