Students of this postgraduate Biblical Studies unit, provided by the Australian Catholic University and Open Universities Australia, will enhance their reading of the text in two crucial areas: firstly, understanding the spiritual importance of the document and, secondly, gaining knowledge of the historical and cultural environments in which it came to be.
You will gain experience in research, particularly of digital databases, as well as in information analysis and critical thinking. An extensive range of sources will be used to help shape your own theories.

The Biblical Studies unit is an essential component of eventual graduation in theological studies from the Australian Catholic University, and as such, broadens the horizons available within related fields.
On completion of this unit, you will be able to clearly explain the ways in which scripture is understood as divine revelation, chart the historical, social and geographical contexts relevant to the conception of The Bible and display an articulate general knowledge of The Bible and its scriptures. You will also have gained crucial insights into research and critical analysis.
