Offered by Swinburne University of Technology through Open Universities Australia, Tourism Services and Distribution Management is an online unit that will equip you with a thorough understanding of the diverse service components of the tourism industry and of the means by which the tourism product is packaged and distributed to consumers.
Combining theoretical and practical perspectives, the unit examines the factors that give rise to tourism flows and the operative units that facilitate the movement of tourists between locations.
You will explore a range of topics in order to gain comprehensive knowledge of the tourism industry, including international and domestic Australian leisure travel, air, water and land transport sectors on which leisure travel is dependent, and analysis of the growth, diversity, current status, trends and problems of the hospitality sector.
Ongoing sections of the unit encourage you to adopt a comprehensive perspective of the components of the tourism product to include less obvious elements such as gaming, shopping and entertainment.
