This online unit is designed to give you grounding in statistical analysis and occupational health, safety and environment (OHSE) epidemiology. It is provided through Open Universities Australia and the Australian Catholic University.
You will be introduced to basic statistical and epidemiological concepts and measures, as well as epidemiological study designs and their application in a variety of OHSE contexts. You will also conduct in-depth analyses of OHSE literature using reviews of epidemiological papers and case studies. This component covers a wide range of issues, including asbestos, legionnaires disease and arsenic in drinking water.
After studying OHSE Epidemiology, you will understand the basic concepts of statistical analysis, epidemiology and study design. You will be able to apply these concepts to analyse and critically appraise the relevant literature and case studies. You will also feel confident communicating with epidemiologists and OHSE professionals.
