In this advanced unit, you will gain a foundation in legal concepts across the nature of law, judicial and court systems, common law and equity, and the common law of employment and environmental protection.
Further, the unit explores specific Australian legislation for safety, security, health and environment for occupational health and safety, workers compensation and injury management, environmental planning and assessment, environmental protection, security and anti-terrorism laws.
You cannot enrol in this unit if you have successfully completed any unit deemed academically equivalent.

This unit teaches you to understand OHSE from a legal perspective, providing a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework regulating health, safety, security, welfare and environmental legislation impacting on organisations, and exploring specific Australian legislation.
You will come away with an understanding of concepts of OH&S management in a legislative context, plus safety, security, health and environment legislation as it applies to organisations, including occupational health and safety law, security and anti-terrorism law and environmental legislation.
By studying legal failures and inadequacies, you will understand how OHSE risks to health or environment in organisations can be controlled, and the principles of law involved in risk management.
