This unit is a study of the basic Principles of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management. It is delivered online via Open Universities Australia and Australian Catholic University with the most current legislation for the regulation of OH&S in Australia in mind.
You will cover the main areas which an OH&S manager would supervise, such as duty of care, consultation, hazard awareness, risk assessment and management, training, employee duties, emergency planning, security risks, OH&S systems standards and auditing and regular performance measuring and assessment.
This unit is a general overview of the above topics, and many of them are addressed in finer detail in further undergraduate and postgraduate units.

This unit will teach you OH&S concepts and terms. You will be able to communicate clearly and efficiently with OH&S professionals, and have an understanding of the concepts and principles of OH&S management within the context of an organisation or business.
You will be able to measure the negative impacts on workplace environments, health and wellbeing, and develop ways to communicate OH&S information and data as well as being able to oversee and run OH&S training and education sessions.
