When I graduated from high school I thought I was going to march right into Mr Murdoch’s office and demand a desk and a media pass. I’d expose the injustices of the world through great investigative reporting, dine with presidents and philosophers, and save the planet.
While I’m still waiting for a dinner invitation from the Clintons, my CV is beginning to move in the direction I once dreamed of.
After a trip to Europe and a very long stint in retail, I was lucky enough to land an internship with Career FAQs. All went well, with three months of hard work procuring media contacts, champagne on Friday afternoons and dairy-free cup cakes passed around the office. I’ve now moved into the publishing team and am enjoying the creative freedom of a role that involves pretty much whatever comes up!
I might not need a desk in Mr Murdoch’s office after all.
