About this course

From farming essentials to machinery and tools, this Certificate III in Agriculture (AHC30116) course will ready you for a life on the land.

Delivered online by TAFE NSW North Coast, through Open Colleges, this certificate qualification is ideal for those starting out in farming and agriculture, or those looking to formalise their skills and fill knowledge gaps.

You will have the opportunity to specialise in livestock, crops or a mixture of both, allowing you to tailor your education to your career goals. You will also cover farming basics and agriculture essentials so you will have the skills to deal with different weather conditions, manage sustainability, and use and maintain farming machinery and tools.

Gain practical skills

To successfully complete this agriculture course, you must undertake at least 175 hours of practical work experience on a commercial broadacre field cropping, and/or commercial livestock production farm.

These will be broken into two work placements; the first, a minimum of 105 hours and the second, a minimum of 70-75 hours.


To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old; AND
  • Have successfully completed Year 10 English, or demonstrate equivalency
