Study the Companion Animal Services Pathway and you will study two nationally recognised qualifications: the Certificate II in Animal Studies (ACM20110) and the Certificate III in Companion Animal Services (ACM30410).Through both qualifications, you will gain skills in basic first aid for animals, working in the animal care industry, transporting companion animals, monitoring animal health and wellbeing and complying with infection control policies.

With both qualifications under your belt, you'll have a comprehensive understanding of the animal care industry, including sustainable work practices, animal hygiene routines, basic care of cats and dogs, animal first aid and animal health and wellbeing.

Gain practical skills

To successfully complete this course, you will need to complete 125 hours of practical work placement to ensure you graduate job ready. You are required to complete a minimum of 80 hours for the Certificate II in Animal Studies (ACM20110) and a minimum of 45 hours for the Certificate III in Companion Animal Services (ACM30410) in an animal care environment.


Applicants must be meet the following entry requirements:

  • Have completed English to Year 10 level; OR
  • Have completed a certificate II or higher qualification; OR
  • Have two years of relevant industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication
