About this course

The Diploma in Community Services from AA Poly helps students turn a passion for people into a meaningful career. Providing a comprehensive foundation of knowledge and key skills, the course prepares students to become community services professionals and provide support, services, information and referral to community members in need.

You'll learn how to develop and deliver client support programs; provide counselling services; apply legal and ethical principles to cases; support clients with drug, alcohol and mental health issues; maintain client confidentiality; and develop, facilitate and review all areas of case management. You'll also develop an understanding of communication in the community workplace and discover how to obtain a positive response from clients and colleagues.

As well as background knowledge and practical skills, the Diploma includes 400 hours of real industry experience in the form of a work placement with one of AA Poly's community services industry partners.

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a Diploma in Community Services from AA Poly.

Graduates will be equipped to pursue roles such as case workers or managers in welfare organisations or a number of specialised community services environments. Approved by the Australian Community Workers Association, this course also offers graduates the exclusive opportunity to apply for Government roles in Justice and Human Services.
