Course Rundown

About this course

The Diploma of Leadership and Management, offered by Benchmark College, prepares students to pursue roles in which they manage the work of others or review management practices. These roles exist in a wide variety of industries and organisational settings.

Students will develop a strong theoretical knowledge base and a range of managerial competencies, enabling them to plan and evaluate their own work or the work of a team. Core units cover subjects such as emotional intelligence in the workplace, operational planning, effective workplace relationships and leadership and management of teams. Electives range from budgeting to organisational policy, project work to risk management, workplace learning environments to sales plans (and much more).

The course consists of four core units and eight elective units. Assessment takes the form of various activities, both written and practical, that allow students to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have developed.

This course is a employment-based traineeship, with all training and assessment conducted in the workplace, so that you learn on the job in a practical and relevant way.


To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Must have a Unique Student Identifier; AND
  • Must complete a LLN quiz upon entry; AND
  • Must meet certain entry criteria if applying for a VET Student Loan.
