Course Rundown

Build foundation skills for a rewarding new career in holistic medicine by studying this Diploma of Health Science course. 

Designed for students seeking an introduction to natural health and alternative medicine, this entry-level course provides a broad-based introduction to the fundamental concepts of holistic medicine, and offers full-time and part-time study options to help you qualify within one year. 

In this course, you’ll study key concepts of anatomy and physiology, bioscience and social sciences, and have the opportunity to study specialised units in naturopathy, nutritional medicine or western herbal medicine. You’ll have the opportunity to expose yourself to a range of different types and theories of natural medicine, and build relevant skills and knowledge to work in the exciting and rewarding field of natural health promotion after completing this course.

To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Year 12 or equivalent with ATAR 50; OR
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake study at this level, comprising relevant work experience or formal or informal study or written submission to demonstrate reasonable prospect of success. 

For international students, English language proficiency to quivalent IELTS 5.5 (academic) with no skills band less than 5.5 is also required.

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a Diploma of Health Science from Southern School of Natural Therapies. 

After completing this course, you may choose to pursue employment in a range of roles in the health, wellness and alternative medicine sectors. This qualification will equip you with the skills and experience required to seek employment working in retail, manufacturing, health coaching and health administration roles.
