About this course

The Certificate III in Retail from Benchmark College prepares students to pursue roles in retail operations. It's a nationally recognised qualification providing the skills and knowledge needed to work in a range of retail settings, including department stores, supermarkets, specialty stores and retail fast food outlets.

You'll learn customer service skills and effective sales techniques; supplementary skills such as administration and creative merchandising; and how to work effectively within the retail team environment. You'll also cover key areas such as workplace health and safety and potential security risks within a retail setting.

The course consists of eight core units and five elective units, with a range of assessment methods incorporated to enable students to demonstrate key skills and competencies.

This course has flexible delivery options;

  • School-based Traineeships - which allow year 10, 11 and 12 high school students to commence or complete a traineeship at school.
  • Employment-based Traineeship - all training and assessments are conducted in the workplace so that you learn on the job in a practical and relevant way.

To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Candidates must have a Unique Student Identifier; AND
  • Candidates must complete a LLN quiz upon entry.
